It was during his four years at the Financial Times Group that Angus first saw the opportunity to develop a specialist financial media agency, one able to provide practitioners in the financial markets with in-depth, yet independent advice on financial media globally.
Since founding Fundamental Media in 2003 and winning its first client, Credit Suisse, Angus has managed the evolution of the company into a significant player in the global planning and buying space. He is passionate about new technology and systems and is continually looking for new innovations and dynamic solutions for clients to help them improve their businesses.
Jan joined Fundamental Media during its first year and has focused on building and developing strategic partnerships with European Fund Management clients. He has accumulated a wealth of in-depth knowledge and insight into the European financial media buying landscape enabling him to provide expertise and innovative media solutions to his clients to support them with all their marketing activities. Jan has worked in the financial media industry for more than 20 years initially working for Reed Business Information before joining the Financial Times. During his time at the Financial Times he was responsible for successfully launching and establishing trade publications in Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordic Region.
Louise has been working in the financial service industry for over 20 years and was a founding member of The Coltman Media Company (ACM). She became Managing Director of Adventis Coltman Media following the acquisition of the company by the Adventis Group in 2006.
In 2012 Louise and Fundamental Media purchased Adventis Coltman Media from the Adventis Group. As part of the Board of Directors she has been instrumental in the merger of the two companies. Her day to day focus is managing the UK Media Team and maintaining relationships with FM UK’s key clients and contacts with an emphasis on advising on overall media strategy whilst also creating bespoke, impactful and relevant tactical opportunities.
Andrew joined the Fundamental Media team in 2012. His background in global publishing and conferences covers financial, insurance/reinsurance, legal and corporate risk management markets and has proved essential when dealing with Fundamental Media’s clients worldwide. He divides his time between Dubai and the United States.
Prior to joining Fundamental Media Andrew worked in the media industry for companies including The Daily Mail Group, IBC Conferences, Informa Plc and latterly Funds Europe/ Funds Global magazines as well as working on a consultancy basis for a number of leading publishing houses.
Robyn has been involved with Fundamental Media on an interim basis since its inception in 2003. In March 2012, she took on the permanent role of Group Finance Director, as well as taking on responsibility for HR & IT and Compliance. Robyn trained with Ernst & Young South Africa, spending four years within their Audit, IT and Consulting divisions. In 1999, she moved to London where she joined PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Transaction Services team, working on due diligence and IPO assignments, as well as specialising in Post Deal Integration. Her move to industry was into Financial Planning and Analysis and Strategy roles, where she has worked for both public and private companies. Robyn is a Chartered Accountant and also has an MBA from Warwick University.
Andrea joined the US team in 2015 as Account Director working across the SSGA, State Street Bank, and Eaton Vance accounts. She brings to the team a wealth of experience having spent nine years working in the US media space at the representation firm Katz Media for four years, and four years at Boston-based full service ad agency Hill Holliday. Most recently she was working in the programmatic ad-tech space before joining Fundamental Media.
After graduating, Iain joined Coltman Media in 2003 as a Digital Media Executive before moving to Fundamental Media in 2012. He has a wealth of experience and an extensive knowledge of the media industry with a specialism in digital media and the programmatic process. He now manages digital strategy for our clients, although he also plans and buys across all other media. Clients tap into this source of media know-how in the knowledge that Iain will always assess the value of this medium against other opportunities to be found within the communication mix.
Nina has been working for Fundamental Media since 2010 and was instrumental in founding and developing the company’s office in the Middle East. She continues to be responsible for key accounts and developing FM’s business across multiple markets.
Nina has worked in financial services marketing and advertising since graduating in 2007, starting at Citywire Financial Publishers where she was an Account Manager for asset management clients on New Model Adviser magazine before becoming a Client Relations Manager at a financial services advertising agency.
Sarah has been working in media planning and buying since 1997 and specialises in working with Fundamental Media’s clients in the education, banking and travel sectors. Sarah’s focus is research and results-driven marketing across all media to help maximise ROI and brand presence in what are often very competitive markets. Sarah works with her clients to help them constantly evolve, keeping abreast of innovations in media and the markets they operate in.
Geraldine joined Fundamental Media in 2008 where she is responsible for several major accounts and has experience across all media specialisms, being 'media agnostic' in her approach. She is passionate about financial services marketing and believes that relationship management is paramount in this role. Her enjoyment at work is derived from achieving the best possible results for her clients.
After graduating from the University of York, Geraldine worked in the media sales industry for Reed Business International for two years. Prior to joining Fundamental Media she moved to VNU Business Publications to work on their financial titles, Financial Director and Accountancy Age.
Hannah joined the team in 2015 and works closely with some of our leading clients developing and implementing media strategies across the UK market. She has a wealth of experience in B2B and financial media planning having worked in these sectors previously at Mindshare UK. She also has extensive knowledge of the out of home landscape from her role at PSI Advertising, the international outdoor media planning and buying arm of the Dentsu Aegis Network. There she was responsible for planning and delivering the advertising for a wide range of clients from BMW to Burberry.
Shanti joined the Fundamental Media team in 2016 and works across the pan - APAC region in our Hong Kong office. Prior to joining Fundamental Media, Shanti worked for over six years in marketing and communications and spent three years agency side with another financial media agency in London. She has extensive experience in direct response media and has worked with clients across a wide range of industries including forex education, property and investment. After completing her law degree in 2007, she spent a year sailing before starting her career at a communications agency in London working with Land Securities, Ernst and Young and Goldman Sachs.
Laura joined Fundamental Media in early 2015 and works closely with key clients on their advertising & marketing strategy, planning and approach across all Asian markets. Prior to joining the team Laura worked for over two years agency side with some major International asset managers. She has extensive experience in project and campaign management and in working with clients to provide integrated and cost effective media solutions. After completing her Masters Degree in Translation in Australia she worked for a period of time in marketing.
Matt began working for Fundamental Media in June 2014 and is responsible for a number of key accounts within the International Team. He works with clients across all media though his particular specialism is in providing digital media solutions. He is a fluent French and Italian speaker.
Previously he spent over five years working on the publisher side in a digital sales capacity, representing various UK-based & international financial media owners. He initially started at Greg Corbett Associates, working on French publications such as L’Agefi, La Tribune and Le Monde, before moving to Il Sole 24 Ore in 2010 and then onto Citiwire.co.uk .
Daniel has a background in web development, with over eight years of experience in IT programming and administration. He entered the financial media industry in 2012, promoting and developing print, online, event and business initiatives for an investments and wealth management publication. He has a wealth of experience working with asset managers, private banks, retail banks, insurance companies and IFAs / brokerages. Daniel joined Fundamental Media in 2015 to provide holistic marketing solutions across multiple platforms and regions to Fundamental Media’s clients.
Haydon has been in the publishing industry since 1994 and in the financial sector since 2005. Until joining Fundamental Media in July 2014 he worked for a variety of media owners selling across a wide range of disciplines including advertising, sponsorship, events and online. His wealth of experience on the sell-side gives him an excellent insight into how publishers work. His sales philosophy has always been consultative, with a view to helping clients to achieve the best strategic outcomes; having moved over to the “other side”, he now applies the same approach to his new role: planning and buying the media that he used to sell.
Darren is responsible for a number of key accounts across the UK team, having joined Fundamental Media in March 2016. He has experience working across multiple media channels, but has a particular focus on digital.
Having graduated from the University of Leeds in 2006, he spent two years on the sales side for Time Warner and Centaur, before moving to the Agency side in 2008. He has worked across a range of financial clients at Capital City Media and then Maxus Global, before most recently running communications for a start-up based in Cardiff. He now brings this wealth of experience with him to Fundamental.
With nine years of experience in the digital technology industry Chris joined Fundamental Media in June 2012. His main responsibilities include developing strategic executions and development of digital technology, including analysis and reporting for all Fundamental Media clients globally.
Chris started working with the email campaign management on the DARTmail platform in 2007 before moving into ad operations on the Google DoubleClick for Advertisers platform as a Senior Technical Account Manager. In 2010 he was tasked with setting up an office in Buenos Aires, Argentina and returned to South Africa in late 2011.
Chris has been building complex systems for private and public sector organisations for nearly 20 years as well as founding companies in the print and IT industries in the UK and New Zealand. He studied Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London; his skills include software development and management of infrastructure and support systems.
Chris moved to Fundamental Media from the European Medicines Agency in May 2013 and he is responsible for the development of Fundamental Intelligence, the company’s proprietary database and software system and associated IT infrastructure.
Alex joined the Fundamental Media team at the end of 2015 and works for key clients on the European side of the business. He has extensive financial services and agency experience previously managing the media planning and buying for BlackRock and IShares as part of the international team at MEC. Following BlackRock’s move to a different agency he took on a strategic role managing the Beiersdorf, Visa Europe and Netflix accounts across 26 local markets. Key projects included accelerating digital innovation and growth and improving the network management and communications across the EMEA region. Alex is a fluent French, German and Spanish speaker
Denise started working at Fundamental Media Middle East in 2011 with responsibility for the day to day management of the office and research support. During 2014 her remit was increased to include an HR management role.
In 2000 Denise completed her Bachelor’s Degree in the Philippines and worked at one of the largest banks in the Philippines for seven years reaching the position of Assistant Manager. In 2007 she moved to Dubai and began her media agency career in 2008 with Starcom MediaVest Group as a Media Buying Assistant.
Victor joined Fundamental Media in 2011 whilst doing his PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London. Since then he has conducted in-depth research on the Asset Management industry (both Retail and Institutional) in more than 30 markets across Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America. He is responsible for delivering on-going professional development training to all staff on the complexities and developments of the financial markets. Victor’s academic background and professional experience cover different areas in the humanities as well as in economics and financial services. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, German, French and Italian.
Richard joined the Fundamental Media research team in June 2015. He previously worked at research and consultancy company, Platforum, where he headed up numerous research projects and carried out bespoke research and consultancy work for asset managers, life companies, private equity firms, platforms and financial advisers. Richard sees the key role of research as bringing data to life, mixing quantitative and qualitative analysis to deliver valuable insight. He has a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton.
Emma joined Fundamental Media in September 2013 and has been involved in improving the design and presentation of the company both internally and externally through a strategic rebranding process including the development of a new website. She also provides marketing support to the Media Team. Prior to joining the company she worked at Penguin Books for twelve years where she was involved in the international marketing of The World of Peter Rabbit brand before moving internally to become a Product Manager for Ladybird Books.
Mia has been working in the creative industry for thirteen years. She joined Fundamental Media in May 2014 and has played a pivotal role in updating and developing design across all aspects of the company. Previously she worked as an Art Director for the international newspaper Metro leading design teams in 22 countries around the world. Mia also built a data visualization section for Metro International working on varied sources of data from health, politics, entertainment to news which involved creating specific info-graphic projects as well as developing data visualization product features for print and online.
Jenni started working for Fundamental's US office in Spring 2016. She is responsible for media planning and buying across the key client accounts of Eaton Vance and Swiss Re with a particular focus in digital advertising.
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire Jenni developed her interest in digital marketing whilst working for TechTarget, an online media network that provides corporations across the globe sales and marketing opportunities. Her role involved campaign planning for the data center and storage media groups and she was responsible for planning content and managing the performance of both lead generation and click campaigns.
Michelle joined Fundamental Media’s US office in 2015 to manage the media planning and buying for State Street and Swiss Re. Her experience in media planning and buying has been both client and agency side, most recently at Williams Interactive and Mindshare Worldwide. She has worked with clients across a wide range of industries including technology, gaming, and pharmaceuticals.
Jeffrey joined Fundamental Media in 2014 shortly after finishing his BSc in Psychology from University of Bristol. He undertakes research projects across all of the key Asian financial markets and is fluent in Chinese, Mandarin and English.
Alex joined Fundamental Media in April 2015 as part of the international team. Whilst she works across all media, she has extensive experience coordinating outdoor media campaigns on an international scale with a particular focus on Europe and Latin America. She has worked in the media industry since 2011 and most recently for Posterscope International as a Media Planner and Buyer where she managed accounts for clients such as Societe Generale and Total Oil. She is a fluent French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese speaker.
Pawel joined Fundamental Media in February 2015 as a part of the digital team. His specialist background allows him to develop a unique approach to every campaign that he manages, look at different projects holistically and develop strategies that utilise search marketing to the greatest possible extent.
He graduated with a MA in History from Jagiellonian University in Cracow and completed a post-graduate course in Internet Marketing at the Warsaw School of Economics. He has worked for several marketing agencies. including GroupM, where he was responsible for managing a team as a senior search specialist and was exposed to high-profile projects for major FMCG and telecom brands.
Sarah joined the company in 2015 as a Media Planner and Buyer for German speaking clients in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as within the UK. Sarah’s knowledge of the media landscape and business culture of German speaking countries has proved essential when working with clients across these geographies. Her previous experience working on the client side at the BMW Group gives her an insight and understanding which she brings to all her client relationships at Fundamental Media. After graduating with a Diploma in Conception and Project Management at the Economies University Bielefeld, Germany, Sarah spent over 3 years working on the creative agency side representing German speaking countries.
Francesca started working in the International team at Fundamental Media in 2015. The main focus of her role is media planning and buying for European clients with a particular emphasis on the Italian market. In addition she is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of European media owners and UK based agencies.
Prior to joining Fundamental Media she worked for three years at Prime Media International where she focused on the media markets of Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands and Belgium providing market research and marketplace knowledge. Francesca is a native Italian speaker.
Max joined the Fundamental Media team as Account Executive in 2015. His particular area of interest is digital advertising and he is able to provide clients with media efficiency and innovation in this area as well as working within the more traditional media sectors. Max graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications from Greenwich University and also has a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the Institution of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM).
Louise started working at Fundamental Media in 2015. She has several years’ experience in developing and fulfilling media strategies working in close communication with key clients across different market sectors. She has a strong research and analysis background and is always looking for opportunities to maximise the reach and budgets of her clients’ campaigns. Prior to working in media she worked for a major public relations company.
Rumi joined Fundamental Media as one of our Company Accountants in 2014. Rumi manages the accounts for the Dubai, Hong Kong and the United States offices, as well as providing direct support to the Finance Director. She has worked in accountancy for 11 years and has extensive experience across several industry sectors including travel, publishing and property. Rumi has completed her Advanced Diploma in Accountancy and Business, and is close to achieving her ACCA accreditation.
Anna joined Hong Kong's Fundamental Media team in March 2016. Her focus is mainly on media planning and buying for the Australian market whilst maintaining and building relationships with publishers across the market. Anna previously worked on post-production and content strategy for TV broadcasting, she also speaks fluent English and Cantonese.
After studying accountancy and completing his Association of Accounting Technician qualification Phillip joined Fundamental Media in 2011. During his time at Fundamental Media Phillip has worked in almost every functional area within the Accounts and Central teams in London, and is therefore a useful point of contact for both clients and suppliers alike. Phillip is now the Company Accountant responsible for Fundamental Media Limited and Fundamental Media UK Limited. He is currently studying for his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification.
Daniel joined Fundamental Media’s Boston office in 2016 to work on the Eaton Vance, and State Street Global Advisors accounts. After graduating Daniel initially worked in financial services research before joining the advertising agency Mullen where he was responsible for the media planning and buying for key account Jet Blue with a particular focus on digital advertising.
Noreen joined Fundamental Media in early 2016 as part of the Asian team. Having studied Linguistics and Marketing at university, she gained unique insights into the ever-changing media landscape. Before joining the company, she worked in the Digital Marketing field specialising in Social Media and Web Development. Noreen speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
